Sonics look at TNA and WWE

Me looking back on the year so far:

In my view, this year has been a mostly solid year in wresting or few will call sports entertainment in the quality of the product. On TNA: That product is starting to rebound despite Immortal's (namely Hogan & Bischoff) stranglehold and now improving with the Thursday night show being renamed Impact Wrestling. I believe that they can prove that wrestling (truly) matters and i still see TNA as the alternative to WWE (cause they're polar opposites, the former using edgy angles (i.e. dumb blonde jokes, blood , cheap shots involving breast implants, weight issues, being and/or living in the American South, etc. The latter going in the exact opposite direction.) and with mainstays like Sting, AJ Styles, Matt Morgan, Kurt Angle among others will keep the company going for years. and hoping that Jeff Hardy will return and get his head back in the game.

Now on WWE: It was a solid build between Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania XXVII. I thought the company pushed Alberto Del Rio too soon in the company, Also being caught out of left field on Edge's sudden retirement left the business in complete shock. Cole v Lawler on WM was a disappointment but got better in later matches. and with Tough Enough concluding the season, its a great Monday night ride before Raw. I'll love the live finale, trust me. the company will keep going with Randy Orton, John Cena, R-Truth, John Morrison, Sin Cara, Christian and other performers on the roster. The industry isn't on a decline, its a clear cut idea for the target demographics that the respected promotions they're getting.

  1. Hey Sonic good stuff and a positive way to look at the business. Its like everything else in life it works in cycles. I think though it has felt like a decline it really hasn't. The talents are there but the times are not. If we were say to go back to the 90's maybe some of these guys would have gotten over easier. It seem like in the 90's it didn't matter what spot one had in the card, it all seem to matter. Now granted I think Vince is looking for the next Rock or Stone Cold but he needs to be concerned about making his product stand out above the UFC. There is something stale about wrestling, maybe we see to much of it every week or better yet too much of the same every week. We as fans have become somewhat Jadded cause of the internet. There are no more surprises, no more secrets. If a new star is coming in to a promotion we all know about it a week before the star does haha. There are 2 things that have put wrestling on the back burner, that being MMA and its growth and the internet with all the inside news, spoilers and streams of PPV's.
